How Worse Can It Get?

Never knew that the feeling of losing something so important is so tormenting. I ‘lost’ my wallet for 2 hours last night. Call it good luck or good karma, I recovered my wallet soon after making a police report. A good Samaritan brought it to Tampines NPC after he (or maybe she) found it at the place I dropped it. It was after a running session with Wenyuan at Tampines Stadium carpark last night, that I somehow accidentally drop the wallet without realizing it. Only when I reach Tampines Central after I parked my bike that I couldn’t find my wallet. It was less than 10 min so I thought if I rushed back to Tampines Stadium I might still find it lying there. To my disappointment (no surprise though) . . . I couldn’t find it. This is the result of Singaporeans being well trained to look out for unattended suspicious articles.

After cursing and swearing, I made my way back to Tampines Central and met up with Wenyuan at TM Mac. I made a call to cancel my card while gloating over my misfortune. Next was to make a police report for the very costly NRIC. I was not in the mood for dinner even though my stomach was begging for food after the 12km run. While making our way to my bike, Wenyuan’s phone just flew out of his hand and crashed to the floor after someone knocked into him. His iPhone became a disaster instantly. The LCD screen was badly smashed and covered with cracks. Being Wenyuan, he went up to the guy to settle the matter. I couldn’t afford to wait for him lest someone might already misuse my IC. Before heading to the NPC, I tried my luck once more at Tampines Stadium carpark. . . and you guessed it. . without much luck.

At NPC, I was told that I couldn’t park inside. Great. . Was already pissed off and it couldn’t get any better. Made one big stupid round to park at the nearby public carpark. Back at the NPC, had to spend time declaring my health status and confirmed with them that I was not in Mexico for the past few days. Duh. . .the closest thing I ever get to Mexico was chomping down those Stuffed Jalapenos at Botak Jones. Law is law. . . no point arguing. Once I made known my purpose for the visit, my sulky face brightened up instantaneously upon seeing the officer taking out a familiar looking wallet out of the drawer. I let out a huge relief after learning that it was indeed my wallet. It just felt like standing at the urinal peeing out the highest amount of urine after holding it for a very long time. You know what I mean. . .

Things were not as rosy in Wenyuan’s case however. After pursuing the guy and trying to thrash things out, the police was called in to mediate. But as usual, in such situations where it’s difficult to determine the party at fault, the police can only term it as being 'unfortunate'. He was adamant to pursue the matter though and intending to sue the guy. So from the one being consoled earlier on, then it was my turn to console him. I can understand the feeling. . . My previous phone (although its only a Nokia and not as chic as Apple), suffered the same fate. Only difference is I can’t blame anyone but myself for falling down and landed my whole body weight on the phone, which was in my pocket. But the misery felt is totally the same. Imagine having to pay over 300bucks to get a replacement. So in total he would have spent around 1k on the phone within barely 3 months. However I am glad I won't have to go to the trouble of replacing those cards in my wallet if I didn't manage to get it back. Just that I won't be able to withdraw cash for the next few days with my terminated card.

Good things come in pairs, but bad ones come in a series! I woke up this morning, opened up a brand box of contact lens only to discover that one side of the pair was chipped. How lucky can I get. . . Someone get me some pomelo leaves to bathe in please!
