All about TV

After a long day from the gym after work, all I wanna do is laze on my bed and tune in to the TV and watch a show, a decent one that is. This evening I was channel surfing and settled for the new 'comedy' series starring Fiona Xie with a bunch of either unknown or not well known cast. But "Serves You Right" proved to be scarier than a horror show . The plot was so horrendous that it just left my gums dry because I didn't even let out a single laughter. The script was so tasteless, and gave me goosebumps. There was a scene about an Indian man recalling his childhood days. In it he was taunting another boy because of his poverty. The boy then retorted :

"One day I will be bigger and better than you. Every word I say is true, this I promise you". ("This I promise you" was repeated several times til the man snapped back to reality)

Sounds familiar? It's a line from one of N'Sync's songs! Duh, either the scriptwriter was trying to be witty or she (or maybe he) was a N'Sync groupie. Don't even get me started on the cast acting. It just looks like one of those roleplays we often had to do in poly during tutorials.

The quality of local shows are getting more substandard. Take for example the latest Japanese variety/game show "Ninja Warrior", and compare it to let's say. . . Singapore's very own "The Showdown" - the game show where local celebrities dressed up in weird costumes and compete in challenges. I don't have to mention that the entertainment value of the 2 show were world's apart. I guess Channel 5 is only capable of screening foreign dramas and shows instead of producing one on its own. However, I was baffled that it did not telecast yesterday's Grammy which it had been doing so for the past years. Come home to 5? Don't even bother to. . .
